Election Process for the District Board of Directors

Election Process

A Board Director shall be a resident of the respective ward from which they are nominated. All elections of directors shall be held at the same time as the general election. Notice of elections shall be published by Placer County for any vacant seats on the Board.  Terms of Office are for four years and until their successors are elected.

Public Utilities Code Section 11852.5

In accordance with Public Utilities Code Section 11852.5, the district board may, at a regular or special meeting held on or before the 76th day before the general election, adopt one of the following courses of action: (1) If only one person has filed a declaration of candidacy for a ward, the board may forego an election and appoint that person to the office. A person so appointed shall serve a full term exactly as if elected at the regularly scheduled election. (2) If no one has filed a declaration of candidacy for a ward, the board may appoint a person to the office who would be qualified on the date the election would have been held. (3) If either no one or one person has filed a declaration of candidacy for a ward, the board may hold the election as scheduled.

Board Director Compensation Policy

Each Board member shall receive the sum of one hundred dollars ($100) for each attendance at the meetings of the Board, or for each day of service rendered as a Director by request of the Board.  No Director shall receive pay for more than six days in any one calendar month.  Directors may also receive a monthly stipend to pay for health and welfare expenses.
